![]() ![]() If the program wasn’t signed, or if Windows can’t verify who signed it, Windows displays the warning that the publisher, the one who made the program available to the public, could not be verified. It is a Windows warning that checks if the program was digitally signed, and if it was signed, Windows checks who signed it. Are you sure you want to run this?” What does this mean? Don’t Panic. If you selected run as the download option, you will see a notice that “The publisher of san2014… couldn’t be verified. Hopefully, you have downloaded or run the installation program. (That’s my only complaint against Sandra). ![]() It’s a lot to go through, and one wonders why such a good program is so difficult to download. Be Careful! Make sure you are downloading Sandra, and not some other unwanted program. Many locations have download buttons for other software, other than Sandra. If you have chosen a different location, then get ready to read what appears on the page. ![]() You’ll have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the link for downloading. Pick a location I suggest using Benchmark HQ as it has fewer buttons to click that may lead you astray. Make sure you choose the proper version, that is to say the ‘lite’ or free version. In fact, when you click on the download button you will be given many choices of download locations. There are many other places from which to download this program. SiSoftware Sandra (The System ANalyser, Diagnostic and Reporting Assistant) is another program I’ve used extensively for quite a while. And that brings us to my second suggestion for a more advanced program that will give us more details. You’ll need this information if you wish to upgrade your memory. It does not tell what type, or manufacturer. It shows how much, and what each DIMM, (dual in-line memory module) contains. Go ahead, move around the page, and take a look at everything you wish to know about your computer Processor, memory, motherboard (main circuit board), hard drives, printers. If all goes properly, after updating and analyzing, a browser window will open showing you the hardware and software that is in your computer. Go ahead, as you may as well keep Belarc Advisor up to date. You can click the box, ‘Remember this choice and don’t ask me again’. Another box will pop up, asking if you want to check for new Advisor security definitions. Next up, click the install button, assuming you agreed to the license agreement. That is why most of us just click agree, without reading the agreement. This includes games, office software and anything else you want to install. Basically, if you do not agree, the program will not be installed. So, if you have never read a license agreement before, go ahead. EULAs are so common that many users ignore them and click ‘Agree’ without understanding what they’re agreeing to. Why? Because in this small print, you agree that if the software messes up your computer, or causes problems, it is not their fault. I’ll bet most people, including yours truly, click ‘agree’ without actually reading the document. All righty, the choices are agree or don’t agree. Wait a minute, what is this EULA, it stands for End-User License Agreement, that just popped up? Says it’s important, and read it carefully. Click ‘yes’, to go ahead and allow the program to make changes to your computer. Your operating system will ask permission to continue. No need to clog up your hard drive with small programs you may install only one time. Your browser will ask you to either run or save the installer program. Simply click on the “Click Here to Download Your Free Copy of Belarc Advisor” box. There are other locations from which you may download Belarc Advisor, but when possible, go straight to the source. I’ve been using this program for a long time to help me remember what I put inside a computer. Wherein Elder Mael tells you about three programs he has used that will allow you to ‘see’ what’s inside your computer without opening it. ![]()
